Cumberland Falls in Infrared
Located in Corbin, Kentucky and often called the "Niagra of the South," Cumberland Falls is 65 feet high and 125 feet wide and plunges over rocks in the Cumberland River that geologists estimate to be about 250 million years old. Although the first permanent settlers of the area did not arrive until 1850, Cumberland Falls has attracted the attention of people since prehistoric times. Besides the falls, hiking and camping, one of the great attractions to Cumberland Falls is the moonbow that can be seen on moonlit nights. The moonbow is said to only be duplicated at Victoria Falls in Africa.
